But I'm not passionate about much else. Not interested to go to the gym. I'm obviously not passionate or interested in writing (or I would have found some other posts from my old blog to put on here in the last month or two). Not passionate really about being with people. Not really passionate about church or God. After having not really gone to church since mid-February due to things beyond my control... three weeks ago I went to Harvest OC. Yes, the Harvest.... Greg Laurie's church. He opened a campus in Irvine on Jamboree and Campus a few months ago and it's already a happening place. The auditorium sits 864 and there is already an overflow room. At least, the 1130AM service is packed.... Greg Laurie himself drives from Riverside for this service and preaches, it is not a video feed like the 930am service is. But, I digress. I felt God moving in me. And I cried. And that hasn't happened for a long time. Last week, much more of the same. I have a small appetite for God's word again, but am I passionate again? Well, almost. (yay!)
And then I thought about WHY I'm not passionate about much else. That is a much more interesting and complex answer... and one I don't honestly know the complete answer to. It possibly stems from the health issues going on the past three or four months. It has been a rough trial from March through May but I have made it through and though I am downcast somewhat, I can praise God just the same!
I read Psalm 8 this morning and that's all I can think about all day... it has made me smile.... genuinely smile. It is absolutely amazing that the same God who made the heavens is my Father and Comforter, even when I feel so distant... because it's me that moves away, not Him!!!
1O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens. 2Out of the mouth of babies and infants, you have established strength because of your foes, to still the enemy and the avenger. 3When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, 4 what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him? 5Yet you have made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor. 6You have given him dominion over the works of your hands; you have put all things under his feet, 7all sheep and oxen, and also the beasts of the field, 8the birds of the heavens, and the fish of the sea,
whatever passes along the paths of the seas. 9O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!
